Physical Activity
Physical activity can broadly be defined as; any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that results in energy expenditure.
For good health, it is recommended that:
- Adults should do at least 30 minutes a day of at least moderate intensity physical activity on five or more days of the week.
- Children should achieve a total of at least 60 minutes of at least moderate intensity physical activity each day.
The good thing is that this physical activity can be built into your day.
Instead of driving to the shops, cycle; buy a folding bike and try cycling to the bus stop or train station; try cycling to work or school twice a week; when going to visit friends take the bike - be admired for the car you do not drive!
"The bicycle is the most efficient machine ever created."
- Bill Strickland, The Quoteable Cyclist.
